CAMP GROUNDS
The Cabins
Meet our two cabins at The CampAway - The Big Dipper & The Little Dipper. Both cabins were hand-built by an Ellijay native and construction business owner, Monty Tatum for him and his family of three boys. The Big Dipper was the original residential tiny cabin that was slowly added onto over the years to accommodate the growing family. As Monty's kids grew bigger and they grew out of space, they converted the "work shed" into The Little Dipper where his three kids lived while he and his wife stayed in The Big Dipper. Monty used reclaimed materials leftover from previous construction jobs so, if you look very closely you will notice the unique imperfections of the cabins.
Amenities
Tucked away on just shy of 4 acres on top of Wallace Mountain on the border of the Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest, The CampAway is what summer camp dreams are made of! Start off the morning by enjoying coffee on the cabin porch and then take a short hike down to the slow-flowing Tickanetly Creek where you can explore further into the national forest and your pup can splash around in the water. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the cabin - read a book from the small library, play board game, take a nap in the hammock or just sit on the porch and enjoy the sounds of nature. At the end of the day, recline in an Adirondack chair circled around the campfire or roast marshmallows for s’mores. Located just up the mountain from a handful of orchards, wineries, outdoor activities and the new BJ Reece Cidery - this cabin offers the perfect base camp for all your adventures.
